NOAA Charting - Kasaan Bay Kasaan Bay, Alaska

Task Orders for this project included: 54.7 square miles surveyed with multibeam, 1,913 total lineal miles of multibeam, and 141 miles of shoreline verification using National Geodetic Survey (NGS) Remote Sensor Data (RSD); and 13 separate items that required investigation.

We were responsible for installing, operating, and removing water level (tide) stations; acquiring water level correctors; processing tidal tabulations; computation of tidal datums; tidal zoning determination; and applying water level correctors to determine true depths. Our surveyors used static GPS for ellipsoid heights at all stations.

Our Team Member performed multiple simultaneous comparisons (datum transfers), tested existing tidal zoning, prepared daily Mean Lower Low Water (MLLW) tidal corrector files that were used to reduce multibeam data, and prepared extensive documentation of the results.

We collected data with a Reson SeaBat 6042, 8101 and 8124, Seatex Seapath 200, and Trimble Ag120 GPS collection software. Hydrographic surveys were conducted with four of our vessels and two leased vessels. AML SVPlus data were collected and stored with a proprietary software program that we wrote. Side scan sonar data was collected using the Triton/Elics software package ISIS, when required.
