Survey Vessels
TerraSond Ltd is quite adept at mobilizing boats of opportunity, from sealskin whaling skiffs to large icebreakers and even container ships. This skill has been acquired through years of travel and work within Alaska and worldwide. When possible, though, we prefer our own vessels for hydrographic surveys. Our vessels have been designed and built (not refitted) for hydrographic surveying. Five custom survey vessels are available for projects.

The 20' Ducer is a custom-built covered aluminum survey boat designed to be light, portable, and trailerable. The Ducer has been used throughout southcentral and southeast Alaska in all seasons for hydrographic surveys; it has also been carried on larger vessels and even deployed by crane in mid winter in Cook Inlet. The Royal Fish is a 25' aluminum jet boat suitable for singlebeam, multibeam, or side-scan surveys in shallow water and nearshore.
The 30' SeaDucer is designed to accommodate surveys that occur farther offshore or require more equipment than basic bathymetry, complete with a heated cabin, seating for seven, and a 30- to 35-knot cruising speed with a 500-mile range The Luna Sea is a 38' aluminum survey vesself that is equipped for singlebeam, multibeam or side-scan surveys.
